THE SUGAR BEAST CIRCUS SHOW

Sugar Beast Circus was founded in 2006 as a production platform for interdisciplinary collaborations between circus performers and new technologies. Sugar Beast Circus toured multiple works in the UK, EU, and US, as well as held residencies at the Camden Round House in London, UK; Blast Theory Creations Space in Hove, UK; and La Brèche Circus Center in Normandy, FR. The name comes from an imagined conversation between P.T Barnum, who asks Charles Darwin where he hides the cubes of sugar to get his animals of science to perform. SBC has produced numerous collaborative projects and community events. Notably, we were artists in Residence with Blast Theory (UK), 2010, and collaborators with Future Cinema and Lost Vagueness at Glastonbury Festival 2009/2010.

The Sugar Beast Circus Show was also the first project produced by Sugar Beast Circus, narrated through an imagined conversation between Charles Darwin and P.T. Barnum, three circus trained performers explore the close relationship between science, showmanship, fact, fiction and the power of an overactive imagination.
